Family Trees and Hierarchies

Life has had a bit of a tree theme lately. I'm fortunate to have access to some beautiful tree-lined cycling trails, and I've really enjoyed the fresh air and chance to get my eyes away from screens and my body moving.
Especially because I've become captivated by another project: researching my family tree. For Mother's Day I set my mom and grandmother up with a subscription to Storyworth so that they could start documenting my grandmother's stories. They are on question #4, and so far the stories have been incredible...the things my grandmother can remember is astonishing. And of course, being the data-nerd that I am, I keep picking out the nouns to see if there's any supporting material I can find online. Which led to Ancestry.ca, which I was a little dubious about, but within a week of the free trial they had me hooked for the whole deluxe membership. My brother had actually started working on the family tree about a decade ago, but there's SO MUCH MORE information online now, that it truly is a rabbit hole. A fascinating rabbit hole, but I'm trying to remember not to do it all at once, and come up for air on a regular basis. Which, speaking of animals, the pup and his love of the great outdoors has been helping with too.

In the midst of all this, as I mentioned in my last post, I've been studying for my PowerBI certification. I'm currently on Chapter 2 of this Exam Reference Book , and just learned some really interesting ways to deal with hierarchies. I can definitely think of ways to implement these concepts in the reports I've created at work, and I'll post some links below in case any of you would like to learn more:
Hierarchies
Parent/Child Hierarchies
I just have to say again how much I'm enjoying PBI. I feel like I have a decent handle on the basics, but there's always something new to learn. Have any of you found a PBI tip or trick that's made you smile lately?
Thanks for reading!
