I'm Lisa, a dedicated health data specialist. I have Bachelors degrees in Computer Science and Nursing, and in August of 2025 I completed a graduate certificate in Health Terminology and Interoperability Standards. I have a passion for using technology to make a real difference in healthcare. Over the past decade, I've focused on utilized my unique skillset to implement solutions to improve patient care and decision-making processes. In 2020 I had the chance to focus on clinical data analytics, where I truly feel I have found my niche. I love finding innovative ways to solve complex problems and bring about positive change in the healthcare sector.

Registered Nurse

I graduated from an accelerated two-year Bachelor of Nursing program in December 2009, where I completed diverse clinical placements as a student in acute care, long-term care, and public health. My acute care experience included pediatrics, family medicine, surgery, and shadowing professionals in ER, labor and delivery, and respiratory therapy. During a 12-week preceptorship in coronary critical care, I deepened my clinical skills. Immediately after graduation, I started working as a bedside nurse on a family medicine (telemetry) unit. After eight months, I transitioned into Health IT, leveraging my clinical insights to enhance healthcare through technology.

Health IT Professional

My path into Health IT started after a solid grounding in nursing, shifting from hands-on patient care to the tech side of healthcare. I've spent over a decade at my local hospital, tackling a range of technical roles. I began by providing advanced support for our Electronic Health Record system, Meditech, focusing on modules like Order Entry and Emergency Department Management. After earning my Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, I shifted to a process improvement role, using IT solutions to streamline patient flow. My transition into a Power BI Developer role with our analytics team allowed me to build impactful reports and dashboards for various departments. Along the way, I also became a Microsoft Certified Data Analyst. In August 2025 I completed a Graduate Certificate in Health Terminology and Interoperability Standards at the University of Victoria, and I will soon be certified as a Controlled Terminology Standards Specialist through the Canadian College of Health Information Management.
