A few years ago, while looking for Health-IT conferences, I came across the COOLEST thing. Honestly, as a champion for Women in STEM I was a little shocked I hadn't heard about it before). It's the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, and according to their website:
GHC is the world’s largest gathering of women technologists, where women from around the world learn, network, and celebrate their achievements.
As soon as I found out about it, I began looking for a way that I could attend. They offer a variety of scholarships and volunteer opportunities, which is great because general admission can be pricy (for this year's virtual event (Sept 27 - Oct 1) is $649 USD.) I decided on the volunteer option and submitted my application for the 2020 celebration. And then...COVID happened. I was actually in an airport on March 13th, after cutting short my spring vacation, when I received the email that my volunteer application was accepted. However, I immediately wrote them back and had to express my condolences and back out, because as a Registered Nurse I had no idea what the next few months might hold.
But I digress. This year has also been a bit bananas, so I'm really hoping to be able to attend in 2022. But for the rest of you, registration for this year's event is now open! And if the conference isn't in the cards for you, I'd highly recommend checking out the anitab.org website, as it includes an online community with (free) memberships available.
If you do make it to the conference, I would love to hear what you think!
