It's been a while since my last post, and quite a bit has happened since then.
Here's what's new:
In June of 2024 I was offered a position as a Data Governance Lead on a major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation and data migration project. This was outside my 'healthcare' wheelhouse, but it sounded like an fantastic learning opportunity, and as an added bonus I would get to try my hand at being a manager for the first time. I accepted the position, and what followed was one of the most incredible adventures I have ever had. I took a giant leap into the unknown, and came out the other side with more knowledge and experience than I ever would have believed could have been packed into 13 months. Even better, the team consisted of some absolutely exceptional people who made that I am frankly in awe of.
And now I'm on to my next adventure. I am headed back to healthcare, but first I'm taking what I'm calling an 'Educational and Wellness Sabbatical'. I'm taking a year off to focus on upskilling, and now that I'm officially 'middle-aged', I'm taking some time to focus on my fitness and mental health. I've been accepted into a graduate certificate program in Health Terminology Standards and Interoperability through the School of Health Information Science at the University of Victoria, which starts in a couple of weeks. I'm also planning to do some online courses in machine learning, design, and I've already started working on improving my French language skills with Duolingo and Coffee Break French. Aside from that, I have many ideas for more blog posts, so stay tuned!
For now, I'm enjoying a few weeks of vacation to wind down from the past year, and to build some healthy habits for the year to come.
Hope you are all having a lovely summer,
Lisa
